Artist’s Statement
My most recent series was still lifes where the subjects of the paintings have been lit with panes of stained glass. The stained glass acts as a filter to create a layer of distortion on the subject which alters their appearance and the audience’s perception. Perception is an idea which I gravitate toward in my work; I think that the difference in the way people view and interpret the world lends itself well to a visual medium. My style of painting places an emphasis onto color and light.
